When Success Is Slow, What Can You Do?

Pop Quiz: Can success be sped up? Is there an antidote to slow outcomes despite arduous planning and actions taken? What is the secret for seeing huge results right now?!

I get versions of these questions frequently from people who feel frustrated at sluggish progress in their success journey – despite all the know-how and principles they rigorously employ.

First, let’s get one thing straight…

When we admire someone’s success, or even our own, we often focus on the end result and not so much on the effort (and time) that it took to get there. This can cultivate unrealistic expectations, especially the idea that overnight success can happen through careful strategy and an execution of sound advice.

The truth be told, success typically follows a series of little events and achievements that can seem to take an eternity, that include a few disappointments along the way, and that challenge everything about you to the core – your stamina, courage, integrity, and even your willingness to keep going.

If you focus on what’s not working, guess what: You’re likely coming from a place of aggravation as your mind wraps around all that is wrong. You may even have negative thoughts like “I’m not good enough,” “It will never work,” or “Something must be wrong with me.” What this mentally does is engender more of these counter-productive feelings. And given what we know about the Law of Attraction, you attract what you are feeling. So negative experiences, people, and results will beget more negative experience, people, and results. There’s not much success in that.

The key, then, is to focus on what IS working. To do so, I recommend two simple practices: journaling and meditation.

Maintaining a journal (I call it an Evidence Log, Results Journal, or Gratitude Journal) is a great way to steer your attention to the positive and continually renew your vision for yourself.

Start each day with reflections on what you are grateful for in your life (list them out!) and end each day with notes on what went right (again, write them down), however small.

Meditation can be powerful tool for arriving at solutions to problems and shifting your attitude so you can attract success sooner rather than later. The magic of meditation is its ability to essentially shut down the outer layer of your judgmental, highly-critical brain and allow your unconscious mind to take over. This is where you enter a deeper state of inner peace and joy, tapping into a higher level of creativity that will help usher in the results you want.

Don’t know how to meditate? Lots of books and materials are available to guide you this practice. It’s easier than you think.

Okay, let’s say you’re doing ALL these things, but you still aren’t happy with your results. I’ll ask you, are you taking real ACTION?

You may be taking the actions you are used to taking. But therein lies the problem: if you keep doing what you’ve already done then you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten. It’s a matter of practicing some new behaviors. Shake things up a bit and see if you can take new actions or modify existing ones.

Remember the Rule of 5. Every day do five specific things that take you toward your goal. Change up the five actions regularly and be open to feedback so you know when you’re off course.

Lastly, I want to remind you about patience. It’s natural to underestimate how long a certain goal can take, especially a profound one. When I set a goal to become a millionaire the year was 1983. How long did it take? Eleven years. It took time for Chicken Soup for the Soul to hit the bestseller lists. You could say our tenure on the New York Times list was more than a decade in the making. That’s a lot of patience for someone who initially wanted overnight success.

So, yes, patience is a virtue. But keep at it, and in no time, you’ll be only one week, or one day away from your ultimate success.

Remember… be grateful, reflect on what IS working and continue to take ACTION!

What To Do When Others Disapprove of Your Actions. Using Your Emotional Guidance System

Question for Abraham: What if you feel good when you think about a specific action, but when you consider what others think about your action, you don’t feel good? Then what would you suggest?

Abraham: No other human really knows the intentions you held as you came forth from Non-Physical. They have not walked in your shoes through the thousands of interactions you have experienced, and they were not a part of the rockets of desire that you have launched as you have lived your life. They are not privy to the Vibrational Reality that you have created through the living of life, and they cannot feel the harmony or discord—the allowing or resisting—that you feel through your own emotions.
Your question is an important one because through it you are trying to understand which of your emotions to trust or follow: the good-feeling emotion that came in response to your personal thoughts about your personal experience, or the bad-feeling emotion that came in response to your awareness of the disapproval of another.

Your Emotional Guidance System
Nothing could be more important than coming to recognize the existence of your Emotional Guidance System and how it works, for without it you have no consistent guidance. The emotions you feel, in any moment, are pointing out to you the agreement or disagreement between you and your Source regarding the thought that is active in you at the moment of the emotion. If you can understand that through life, before you entered this body and since, your Inner Being has become the Vibrational summation of all that you have lived and now stands as the Vibrational equivalent to all that is good—and if you can then understand that your emotions are giving you feedback about how your current thought blends with that all-knowing, Pure, Positive Energy viewpoint of Source—then and only then can you fully appreciate your emotions.
The Source Within You
So when you feel negative emotion, it always means that your currently active thought is out of alignment with the knowledge of Source. In other words, when you find fault with yourself, when you decide that you are inappropriate or unworthy, you will always feel negative emotion—because the Source within you only feels love toward you. When you disapprove of others, you will always feel negative emotion—because the Source within you only loves others. If you will remember that whenever you feel negative emotion, it always means you are in disagreement with Source, then you can deliberately reframe your thoughts until you come into alignment. That is the way to effectively utilize your Guidance System.
When people replace this very personal guidance by attempting to modify their behavior to please other people, they very soon discover the inconsistency of that guidance and soon find themselves confused about what to do. Many people have lost conscious Connection with their own Guidance Systems, and so instead of deliberately focusing their thoughts into harmony and alignment with their Source and their power—instead of making sure that they are steadily tuned to the Vibration of their clarity and love and power—they turn their attention to the results of what they and the people around them have been thinking. In other words, they examine and catalog and pigeonhole and evaluate and judge the results of the Vibrational creating that is happening around them, putting those results into categories of good and bad, right and wrong. And in all of that data, they lose their way.
When people have forgotten that this is an inclusion-based Universe, and that the Law of Attraction is the manager who is arranging every detail of every rendezvous that occurs, they fear something that can never be: they fear that unwanted things can assert themselves into their experience. But when you remember that nothing uninvited ever comes into your experience, and that every invitation of both wanted and unwanted comes because you have given considerable thought to the essence of it, then you can begin to utilize your own powerful Emotional Guidance System with the assurance that you do create your own reality.
If people would simply pay attention to the harmony or disharmony within themselves—which is offered to them in the form of positive or negative emotion—they would be able to eliminate the arduous and impossible task of trying to control the behavior of others.
By deliberately focusing your thoughts in the direction of your Broader understanding, and no longer wasting time and money on things you cannot control, you will not only come into alignment with Source and feel the relief of that in your emotions—but all things wanted can then come to you.

An Amazing Way to Create The Life You Want. Something Great is About to Happen – Remember?

in their new book The Remembering Process, Daniel Barrett and Joe Vitale describe an amazing way of approaching the creative process and the creation of anything you desire—from writing a new song to creating a new life!

First, There’s the Law of Attraction

The Remembering Process works in harmony with the principle of the Law of Attraction, a metaphysical concept named by New Thought writer William W. Atkinson in 1906. Many philosophers through the years described the power of positive thought, including Napoleon Hill, but it hit the mainstream media in a big way in 2006 with the arrival of The Secret—the movie and then the book. In essence, it means that you manifest what you think. You attract things into your life based on what you think about and focus on. So if you think, “I can’t afford that car,” you won’t. But if you envision yourself driving that car, and you spend time thinking about how you already own it, the universe will rearrange itself to make sure that you do, in fact, wind up owning it. It wants your reality to match your perception. It works not only with tangible objects, but also with desires, such as good health, happiness, prosperity, a new relationship, a sports winning streak, and so on.

The Remembering Process teaches us to think as if we’re already past achieving those things we want and reporting back from a point even further into the future.

When you do it, you create a space—a type of detachment—toward the thing you want to accomplish. When something feels as though it has already happened, and has that foggy air of a memory, the ego can’t reach it in the same way or figure out how to prevent it. When you “want” something, your brain can ruminate on a hundred ways of foiling your plan—I’m not good enough, I’m not ready, I don’t deserve it, I can’t, I shouldn’t, Other priorities should come first, I’m tired, I’ll never have enough time, I’m not that lucky—but when you’reremembering it, it can’t be prevented! You’ve told your ego that it has already been scripted and there’s nothing standing in your way, so it might as well just accept it and get moving on it. I have already had a successful exhibition of my photography tells your ego that it can’t any longer make you question whether you’ll ever be good enough. It reminds you that you need to make the time for what you love because something great is about to happen and you need to prepare for it. It’s like a cheat code for the soul, the brain, or both.

Here’s How The Remembering Process Works

Judo champion Kayla Harrison used this practice when she trained for the 2012 Olympics. Instead of “wanting” to win, she remembered winning. Every morning and night, she remembered the future—the day in London when she awoke, went to weigh in, had breakfast, warmed up, waited in the holding area, then won each of her judo matches, and finally stood atop the podium accepting her gold medal.

When the morning actually came, she says she was surprisingly calm. All the other athletes around her seemed to be buzzing with nervous energy, but she didn’t feel nervous at all. She had successfully tricked her brain into thinking that her memory had already happened—that she had already won the Olympic medal and now just had to go through the steps to claim what was rightfully hers.

And that’s just what she did. She took home the very first Olympic gold medal for any American, male or female, in judo. As she stood atop that podium with the “Star-Spangled Banner” sounding out across the stadium, she burst into tears. “It was just how I remembered it,” she says.

Love From Your Life. Are You Wondering Why Your Crush Doesn’t Like You Back?

I ONCE HAD a client named Melody who, like so many others, was looking for love. She called me in frustration, asking why she wasn’t getting the results she wanted with a particular young man she was interested in. She said, “I don’t understand it. I’ve been practicing the Law of Attraction, which says to focus only on what you want, not on what you don’t want.” She felt that was exactly what she’d been doing, focusing on him and picturing the two of them together.

Moving From Focus to Obsession

When I asked her how often she did this, she told me that she thought about him all the time—when she got ready in the morning, when she was driving to and from work, and when she went to bed. From morning till night, she zeroed in on him dozens, perhaps hundreds, of times per day. Unfortunately, that was precisely the problem. Melody hadn’t realized it, but she’d moved from focus into obsession, and she’d done what so many people do—ignite the energies of paradoxical intent.

It’s healthy to concentrate—even determinedly so—upon your goal, but you actually lose your focus when you become overattached. Your unhealthy investment reduces your positive creativity and poisons the harmonic energy of attraction, completely reversing the direction of your desire.

Obsessing about something you don’t have makes you unconsciously brood about what you lack, totally dismissing the present value in your life. Your urgency about getting what you want shouts at the Universe that you don’t care about—or appreciate—anything else. This act of dismissal creates a dark vacuum of energy, one that nobody wants to support or even be around, and the Universe has the same response. Instead of generating the results you long for, our paradoxical intent becomes a black hole of obsessive longing, destroying any positive outcomes that may come your way.

The Source of Desperation

When I pointed this out to Melody, she could see how the patterns of her relationships had always gone the same way—and how she’d accelerated her own disappointment! Her palpable longing was energetically picked up by every man she became interested in, sending them running. In order to change this, Melody knew she had to get to the bottom of things. It was necessary to look into her quantum psychology to find out where this desperation was coming from.

When we investigated her history and beliefs, we were able to discover the source. Her father had been distant and unavailable, a capable breadwinner, but totally uninterested in being a loving father. Melody sought his affection and approval throughout her childhood, and when she became an adult, she projected that need onto the men in her life. She hadn’t realized it, but a part of her even embraced the belief that until she had male approval, she wouldn’t be happy and could never really approve of herself.

Of course this only made her go after love more aggressively. Every man she met became a potential partner, instantly causing her to become clingy and obsessed. And whenever someone didn’t call, she want further into obsession and bitter urgency, digging herself deeper into her paradox. Not only was this attitude dishonoring to her, it was absolutely poison to her desire for romance.

Building A Hologram of Self-Love

In order for Melody to find love—and even more important, real happiness—she needed to build a new hologram of self-love and self-approval. So we created a multilayered approach, one that would deal with her present emotions and conclusions as well as her history. She was willing to work through it because like most people, when she learned that the Universal laws could only return her own energy and consciousness to her, she was finally motivated to understand and change.

Got 68 Seconds? That’s all it takes to get your wish!

WITH ONLY A FEW SECONDS of focusing your attention on a subject, you activate the vibration of that subject within you, and immediately the Law of Attraction begins to respond to that activation. The longer you keep your attention focused on something, the easier it becomes for you to continue to focus upon it because you are attracting, through the Law of Attraction, other thoughts or vibrations that are the essence of the thought you began with.


Within 17 seconds of focusing on something, a matching vibration becomes activated. And now, as that focus becomes stronger and the vibration becomes clearer, the Law of Attraction will bring to you more thoughts that match. At this point, the vibration will not have much attraction power, but if you maintain your focus longer, the power of the vibration will become further reaching.

And if you manage to stay purely focused upon any thought for as little as 68 seconds, the vibration is powerful enough that its manifestation begins.

Got 68 Seconds

Keeping your focus on your dreams.

When you repeatedly return to a pure thought, maintaining it for at least 68 seconds, in a short period of time (hours in some cases or a few days in others), that thought becomes a dominant thought. And once you achieve a dominant thought, you will experience  matching manifestations until you change it.

Remember that:

  • The thoughts you think equal your point of attraction.
  • You get what you think about, whether you want it or not.
  • Your thoughts equal vibration, and that vibration is then answered by the Law of Attraction.
  • As your vibration expands and becomes more powerful, it eventually becomes powerful enough for manifestation to occur.
  • In other words, what you think (and therefore feel), and what manifests in your experience, is always a vibrational match.


You Have the Ability to Direct Your Own Thoughts

You have the ability to direct your own thoughts; you have the option of observing things as they are, or of imagining them as you want them to be—and whichever option you choose, whether you are imagining or observing, is equally powerful. You have the option of remembering something as it actually occurred or imagining it as you would prefer. You have the option of remembering something that pleased you or remembering something that did not please you.

You have the option of anticipating something you want or anticipating something you do not want. In every case, your thoughts produce a vibration within you that equals your point of attraction, and then circumstances and events line up to match the vibrations that you have offered.

You have the ability to place your attention wherever you decide, so it is possible to distract yourself from something unwanted and put your attention upon something wanted. But when a vibration within you is one you have practiced a great deal, the tendency is to continue to offer the vibration in the way you have been practicing it—no matter how much you wish it to be different.

It is not a difficult thing to change the pattern of your vibration, especially when you understand that you can do it a little bit at a time. Once you have an understanding of how vibrations work, how they affect your experience, and, most important, what your emotions are telling you about your vibrations, now you can make steady, fast progress toward the achievement of anything that you desire.

A Law of Attraction Tool for Lessening Your Doubt–So You Can Allow.

You’ve heard the expression “Just believe it and it will come.” When we believe that we can “have it,” that means we have no doubt in receiving it. The challenge, however, is removing the doubt that is stopping us from believing.

When you remove the doubt, you are now Allowing — Allowing it to come to you. Allowing means you have no negative vibes that are cancelling the positive vibes of your desire. Remember, Law of Attraction is matching your vibration. Is your vibration one of doubt or belief?

Understanding this concept makes using the Law of Attraction to deliberately attract more of what you want much easier.

The three-step formula for Deliberate Attraction is: (1) Identify Desire, (2) Raise the Vibration (feeling), and (3) Allow.
Many of us are very good at the first two steps, coming up with the desire and getting excited about it, but the third step is harder. In fact, the Allowing step is the step that needs the most attention. The thing to keep in mind is that your desire can come to you very quickly, providing you have no doubt in receiving it. So removing or lessening your doubt, a process called “Allowing,” is key.

Doubt = Negative Vibration

Negative Vibration dilutes the Positive Vibration of your desire.

Tools for Allowing (removing doubt)

Ask yourself this question:

“Is there anyone on the planet who is doing or having what I desire?”
If so, then you now know it is possible. Continue building statements in your mind or on paper that tell you your desire is possible. Here are examples of “Allowing” statements made by a businessperson who wants to attract his or her ideal client:

“Thousands of businesses are attracting their ideal clients right now, and right now, and right now.”

“Hundreds of thousands of dollars were paid to businesses today, yesterday and will be paid again tomorrow.”

“Millions and millions of dollars will be earned by business owners today.”

When using the formula for Deliberate Attraction, spend most of your time “Allowing” as it determines how quickly your desires will come to you.


And when it feels possible, you have removed doubt.

And when you remove the doubt, the Law of Attraction can bring your desires to you.

Remember, when using the formula for Deliberate Attraction, focus on “Allowing,” as it determines how quickly, or slowly, your desires will come to you.
