When Success Is Slow, What Can You Do?

Pop Quiz: Can success be sped up? Is there an antidote to slow outcomes despite arduous planning and actions taken? What is the secret for seeing huge results right now?!

I get versions of these questions frequently from people who feel frustrated at sluggish progress in their success journey – despite all the know-how and principles they rigorously employ.

First, let’s get one thing straight…

When we admire someone’s success, or even our own, we often focus on the end result and not so much on the effort (and time) that it took to get there. This can cultivate unrealistic expectations, especially the idea that overnight success can happen through careful strategy and an execution of sound advice.

The truth be told, success typically follows a series of little events and achievements that can seem to take an eternity, that include a few disappointments along the way, and that challenge everything about you to the core – your stamina, courage, integrity, and even your willingness to keep going.

If you focus on what’s not working, guess what: You’re likely coming from a place of aggravation as your mind wraps around all that is wrong. You may even have negative thoughts like “I’m not good enough,” “It will never work,” or “Something must be wrong with me.” What this mentally does is engender more of these counter-productive feelings. And given what we know about the Law of Attraction, you attract what you are feeling. So negative experiences, people, and results will beget more negative experience, people, and results. There’s not much success in that.

The key, then, is to focus on what IS working. To do so, I recommend two simple practices: journaling and meditation.

Maintaining a journal (I call it an Evidence Log, Results Journal, or Gratitude Journal) is a great way to steer your attention to the positive and continually renew your vision for yourself.

Start each day with reflections on what you are grateful for in your life (list them out!) and end each day with notes on what went right (again, write them down), however small.

Meditation can be powerful tool for arriving at solutions to problems and shifting your attitude so you can attract success sooner rather than later. The magic of meditation is its ability to essentially shut down the outer layer of your judgmental, highly-critical brain and allow your unconscious mind to take over. This is where you enter a deeper state of inner peace and joy, tapping into a higher level of creativity that will help usher in the results you want.

Don’t know how to meditate? Lots of books and materials are available to guide you this practice. It’s easier than you think.

Okay, let’s say you’re doing ALL these things, but you still aren’t happy with your results. I’ll ask you, are you taking real ACTION?

You may be taking the actions you are used to taking. But therein lies the problem: if you keep doing what you’ve already done then you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten. It’s a matter of practicing some new behaviors. Shake things up a bit and see if you can take new actions or modify existing ones.

Remember the Rule of 5. Every day do five specific things that take you toward your goal. Change up the five actions regularly and be open to feedback so you know when you’re off course.

Lastly, I want to remind you about patience. It’s natural to underestimate how long a certain goal can take, especially a profound one. When I set a goal to become a millionaire the year was 1983. How long did it take? Eleven years. It took time for Chicken Soup for the Soul to hit the bestseller lists. You could say our tenure on the New York Times list was more than a decade in the making. That’s a lot of patience for someone who initially wanted overnight success.

So, yes, patience is a virtue. But keep at it, and in no time, you’ll be only one week, or one day away from your ultimate success.

Remember… be grateful, reflect on what IS working and continue to take ACTION!

Prosperity Affirmations for Attracting Money, Abundance & Success

28 Dic

You can never create prosperity by talking or thinking about your lack of money. This is wasted thinking and cannot bring you abundance. Dwelling on lack only creates more lack. Poverty thinking brings more poverty. Gratitude thinking brings abundance.

There are a few negative affirmations and attitudes that are guaranteed to keep prosperity beyond your reach—for example: “I never have enough money!
That’s a terrible affirmation to use. Another unproductive one is: “Money goes out faster than it comes in.” This is poverty thinking of the worst kind. The Universe can only respond to what you believe about yourself and your life. Examine whatever negative thoughts you have about money, and then decide to release them and let them go. They haven’t served you well in the past and will not serve you well in the future.

Sometimes people think that their financial problems will be solved by inheriting money from a long-lost relative or winning the lottery. Sure, you can fantasize about such things, or even buy an occasional lottery ticket for fun, but please don’t put a lot of attention on acquiring money in this way. This is scarcity thinking, or poverty thinking, and it won’t bring lasting good into your life.

Anyway, when it comes to the lottery, winning seldom brings positive changes into anyone’s life. In fact, within two years, most lottery winners have lost almost all of their money, have nothing to show for it, and are often worse off financially than before. The problem with money acquired in this way is that it rarely solves any problems. Why? Because it doesn’t involve changing your consciousness.
In effect, you’re saying to the Universe: “I don’t deserve to have good in my life except by a fluke chance.”

If you would only change your consciousness, your thinking, to allow the abundance of the Universe to flow through your experience, you could have all the things you think the lottery could bring you. And you’d be able to keep them, for they would be yours by right of consciousness. Affirming, declaring, deserving, and allowing are the steps to demonstrating riches far greater than you could ever win in a lottery.

Another thing that can keep you from prospering is being dis-honest.
Whatever you give out comes back to you. Always. If you take from Life, then Life will take from you. It’s that simple. You may feel that you don’t steal, but are you counting the paper clips and stamps you’re taking home from the office?
Or are you a person who steals time or robs others of respect—or perhaps steals relationships? All these things count and are a way of saying to the Universe: “I don’t really deserve the good in life. I have to sneak it and take it.”

Become aware of the beliefs that may be blocking the flow of money in your life. Then change those beliefs and begin to create new, abundant thinking.

Even if no one else in your family has done this, you can open your mind to the concept of money flowing into your life.
If you want to prosper, then you must use prosperity thinking. There are two prosperity affirmations that I’ve used for many years, and they work well for me. They’ll also work for you. They are:
My income is constantly increasing,” and “I prosper wherever I turn.”
I had very little money when I started using these affirmations, but consistent practice has made them come true for me.

How Prosperity Affirmations Attract Money & Success

For a long time, I’ve believed that business is a place where we bless and prosper each other. I’ve never understood the concept of cutthroat business, where you try to cheat and put one over on the other person. That doesn’t sound like a joyous way to live. There’s so much abundance in this world—all we need to do is recognize that fact and share the wealth.

At Hay House, my publishing company, we’ve always been honest and honorable. We live up to our word, do our work well, and treat others with respect and generosity. When you live that way, it’s impossible to keep the money away; the Universe rewards you at every possible turn. Today we have a fabulous reputation in the publishing world, and so much business that we’re turning it away. We don’t want to grow so big that we lose the personal touch.
If I, an abused child who didn’t finish high school, can do it, you can, too.

So once a day, stand with your arms open wide and say with joy:
I am open and receptive to all the good and abundance in the Universe. Thank you, Life.” Life will hear you and respond.

Happy Thanksgiving fellow Lightworkers

Happy Thanksgiving fellow Lightworkers,

This month we are moving toward my favorite holiday: Thanksgiving. Regardless of the “American Traditions” about how Thanksgiving was started, it is so wonderful to have a day set aside to celebrate gratitude. A time to reflect on all of the blessings we have in life that sustain us as physical beings as well as the spiritual blessings that support us as Spiritual Beings of Light. And the emotional and mental blessings that feed us emotionally and intellectually.

Do you have a roof over your head and warmth during the cold weather? Wow, what a blessing to be grateful for. Do you have clothes to wear and protect you from the elements? Of course we are grateful for this. Are you enjoying enough food to nourish your body both physically and emotionally. Then give thanks.

We are Beings of Light who have made a conscious choice to awaken spiritually at this incredible time on Earth. And the moment that decision kicks in the guides, Ascended Masters, Higher Self, and physical teachers start to appear. Books, movies, songs move us to understand and grow more. There is often challenge and maybe pain. But that is what helps us to evolve and move into enlightenment and Ascension consciousness. The more we are willing, the more we draw into our lives to move us forward. And the more we move forward the more we can look back and find gratitude for the past and all it has taught us and who we have become and are becoming. What great blessings we can give heartfelt tanks for receiving, having received, and will be receiving!

Emotionally we are nurtured by our willingness to give and receive Love. Even if we are still learning how to Love and be Loved, it can nurture us just knowing that that commitment is real. And to know that Love is eminent and eternal is really a great gift and motivator in life. Compassion is also a great energy for which we are grateful. To have compassion is to deeply care about self and others. It also has to do with really trusting that each person is capable of handling whatever is presented in life and sending blessings for them (or us) to do so graciously.

Mentally there is a deep seated need for understanding and the knowledge to assist us in learning and growing. Earth is a school for us and everything that happens to us is a learning opportunity. Everyone we meet is our teacher and student in the sense that we learn and grow from their victories and their mistakes. And they get to do the same. Our biggest “enemy” is our greatest teacher if we choose to allow ourselves to see them that way and be grateful for what we receive through them. What we can see in ourselves in reaction to them is teaching us what still needs to be healed.

So let us move into Thanksgiving this year eagerly. And let us celebrate and be grateful that we are capable of feeling gratitude. If your attitude is gratitude life is always a great blessing to yourself and others. If your attitude is gratitude you are healed deeply and joyfully. If your attitude is gratitude you are already becoming what you truly want to be: your true self. What a concept! Happy Thanksgiving!!! Love and Blessings,
